DRC on Facebook

In April the DRC established a Facebook page to give individuals a place to engage in conversation about the Dom people of the Middle East & North Africa. While our website continues to be the place to find detailed information, Facebook will give us all a convenient way to dialogue with one another, share pictures, stories, projects, and other information. Be sure to "Like" the Facebook page so that you will receive notifications when new posts are made. Click here to connect to Facebook, then simply search for the Dom Research Center. We look forward to having you join in the conversations.

Partnership with Domari Society of Gypsies in Jerusalem

The Dom Research Center and the Domari Society have launched an official partnership through which the DRC will assist the Domari Society by hosting an online store through which the handicrafts and jewelry produced by the Dom women will be sold.Production and sell of these items has become an important income source for several Dom families in East Jerusalem and the Palestinian West Bank. By establishing an online outlet Amoun Sleem, the director of the Domari Society, hopes to broaden the market and strengthen the program.

Through the partnership the DRC will assist with the publication and marketing of a book about the life of Ms Sleem. The book is in the final writing stages and will go to the publisher in the near future.

Establishment of a Gypsy Clothing Market is another goal of this partnership. The Domari Society will operate this market to raise funds for the budget of its Community Center.

Online sells and the community operated Clothing Market projects are being developed with the goal of establishing sustainable, self-directed programs in the Domari community.
